What to Sell on eBay in December 2026: UK Sales Data

If you're a reseller working out what to sell on eBay in December, these are the 10 categories to stock: action figures, LEGO, candles, winter sports gear, board games, pyjamas, jigsaw puzzles, velvet clothing, bath and body sets, and fragrance gift sets. They're ranked by peak weekly units sold on eBay UK in December 2025, and at their peak each one sold roughly 80% to 570% more than in a normal week.

The figures come from Listing Monster's analysis of Terapeak sold data for eBay UK, covering November 2024 to November 2026. "Lift" compares a category's peak Christmas week with its average week from January to September 2026, read from the weekly sales charts below.

Why December is the last big selling window of the year

December demand is front-loaded. In almost every category below, weekly sales climb through November, peak in the first two weeks of December, then drop sharply once Christmas posting deadlines pass. Christmas Day falls on Friday 25 December 2026, so the real selling window closes around the middle of the month.

That changes the usual rule. In November you source a month ahead; in December you list what you already hold, as fast as you can. Anything not live by the first week of December will miss most of the peak.

The charts also show the 2025 peak landing lower than 2024's in most categories, and the trend lines slope down. Buyers are still there, but there are more sellers competing for them, so sharp photos and realistic pricing matter more than ever.

The 10 best selling items on eBay at Christmas, ranked by eBay UK sales data

1. Action figures: the biggest December mover by volume (+110%)

What to look for: Boxed and sealed figures, complete figures with accessories, and vintage lines from the 1980s and 1990s.

Average selling price: £25.61 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Car boot sales, charity shops, Facebook Marketplace, and house clearance job lots.

Action figures sold more units than any other category here, at around 81,500 a week at the early-December peak against roughly 39,000 in a normal week. Demand builds from early November, so stock you hold now should be listed this week. There's also a smaller summer bump in July, which makes this a category you can sell year-round.

Terapeak, eBay UK: action figure weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: Check figures for missing accessories before you buy. A complete figure in its original packaging can sell for several times a loose one.

2. LEGO: steady volume with a December spike (+80%)

What to look for: Complete themed sets with minifigures and instructions, retired boxed sets, and job lots of loose bricks.

Average selling price: £26.38 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Car boot sales, charity shops, Facebook Marketplace, and mixed lots.

LEGO has the highest baseline of any category here, at around 40,000 units a week, so its lift looks smaller than it is. It peaked at about 72,000 a week in early December 2025. If you bought LEGO in November for the December peak, now is the time to sort, photograph and list it.

Terapeak, eBay UK: LEGO weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: List complete sets for Christmas gifting and save loose job lots for January, when builders are restocking rather than gift shopping.

3. Candles: a long build to an early-December peak (+200%)

What to look for: Branded scented candles, unused gift candles, Christmas-scented candles, and boxed sets.

Average selling price: £9.33 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Clearance aisles, car boot sales, charity shops, and unwanted gifts.

Candles start building in September and peak at about 47,700 units a week in early December, against roughly 16,000 in a normal week. With 80% of listings offering free postage, buyers expect it, so build postage into your price.

Terapeak, eBay UK: candle weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: Unused branded candles sell best. Bundle smaller candles into gift sets to raise the order value above the low average price.

4. Winter sports gear: peaks earliest, so list now (+100%)

What to look for: Ski jackets and salopettes, snowboard boots, goggles, gloves, and thermal base layers.

Average selling price: £17.92 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Charity shops, car boot sales, Facebook Marketplace, and end-of-season clearance.

Winter sports gear peaks earlier than every other category here, at about 43,000 units a week in mid-November, roughly double a normal week. Demand holds into early December for ski trips, then falls away. If you have stock, it needs to be live now.

Terapeak, eBay UK: winter sports gear weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: Branded outerwear in good condition sells fastest. Photograph labels and size tags clearly, as buyers can't try them on.

5. Board games: the highest-value category on this list (+175%)

What to look for: Complete family games, popular strategy games, sealed new games, and vintage editions.

Average selling price: £42.95 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Charity shops, car boot sales, Facebook Marketplace, and house clearances.

Board games have the highest average selling price here at £42.95. Weekly sales peaked at about 36,000 units in early December, against roughly 13,000 in a normal week. They're a strong gifting category, so make sure listings are live before the start of December.

Terapeak, eBay UK: board game weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: Count the pieces before you list. A game marked "complete and checked" sells faster and attracts fewer returns.

6. Pyjamas: a sharp Christmas spike (+410%)

What to look for: New-with-tags pyjamas, Christmas and matching family sets, and branded loungewear.

Average selling price: £11.76 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Clearance and end-of-line stock, charity shops, and multi-buy deals on the high street.

Pyjamas barely move for most of the year, at around 5,800 units a week, then jump to about 29,600 in early December. That's driven by Christmas Eve boxes and matching family sets. The window is short, so anything Christmas-themed must sell before mid-December.

Sourcing tip: Christmas-print pyjamas lose most of their value after 25 December. Price them to clear in the first half of the month.

7. Jigsaw puzzles: a gift that keeps selling into January (+145%)

What to look for: Complete 1,000-piece puzzles, sealed puzzles, and well-known brands.

Average selling price: £9.67 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Charity shops, car boot sales, and mixed lots from house clearances.

Jigsaw puzzles peaked at about 11,100 units a week in early December, against roughly 4,500 in a normal week. Unlike most gifting categories, demand stays higher through January and February, so stock that doesn't sell before Christmas still has a second window.

Terapeak, eBay UK: jigsaw puzzle weekly sales, November 2024 to November 2026.

Sourcing tip: Only list second-hand puzzles as complete if you've checked them. Sealed puzzles are quicker to list and sell for more.

8. Velvet clothing: party season from October to December (+160%)

What to look for: Velvet dresses, blazers, tops, and party wear in good condition.

Average selling price: £15.60 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Charity shops, car boot sales, and vintage stock.

Velvet clothing has the longest peak on this list. Weekly sales sit above 3,000 from late October to mid-December, peaking at about 3,270, against roughly 1,250 in a normal week. Christmas parties drive demand, so list by the first week of December.

What to look for: Sealed, boxed bath and body gift sets from well-known brands.

Average selling price: £16.35 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Clearance and end-of-line stock, car boot sales, and unwanted gifts.

Bath and body sets have the highest lift here. Weekly sales jump from around 330 units to about 2,230 at the late-November to early-December peak. Sales then fall sharply in the second half of December, so this is a list-now category.

What to look for: Sealed fragrance gift sets in their original packaging, especially designer brands.

Average selling price: £18.12 (Terapeak, eBay UK)

Where to source it: Clearance and end-of-line stock, and unwanted gifts.

When to list Christmas stock on eBay: your December plan

  1. List everything gift-led by 1 December. Action figures, LEGO, candles, board games, pyjamas, bath and body sets, and fragrance gift sets all peak in the first two weeks of December.
  2. Get winter sports gear and velvet clothing live now. Both are already at or near their peak, and winter sports gear starts falling in early December.
  3. Hold some stock for January. Jigsaw puzzles and loose LEGO keep selling after Christmas, so you don't need to clear everything at a discount.
  4. Don't buy more than you can list. Aim for no more than two to three weeks of processing work, so cash isn't tied up in unlisted stock during the busiest weeks. Our Reseller Handbook 2026 guide to avoiding a sourcing death pile shows how.

FAQs

What sells best on eBay in December?

By volume, action figures (about 81,500 a week at peak), LEGO (about 72,000) and candles (about 47,700) sold the most units in December 2025 on eBay UK. The biggest lifts were in bath and body sets (+570%), fragrance gift sets (+430%) and pyjamas (+410%), all driven by Christmas gifting.

When should I list stock for Christmas?

By 1 December at the latest. Most gifting categories peak in the first two weeks of December, then fall sharply once posting deadlines pass. Check Royal Mail's Christmas last posting dates and set your handling time so orders arrive before 25 December.

Is it too late to source stock in December?

For Christmas gifting, mostly yes: stock bought now has little time to be listed before the peak. Focus on listing what you already hold. Jigsaw puzzles and LEGO are the exceptions, as they keep selling into January, so sourcing them in December can still pay off.

What should I do with unsold Christmas stock?

Seasonal items like Christmas pyjamas and gift sets lose value fast after 25 December, so reduce them in mid-December rather than holding. Non-seasonal stock, such as board games and LEGO, can stay listed at full price into the new year. Jigsaw puzzles also keep selling into February.
